Organised

Let’s talk about how being organised will reduce stress levels. What was it like the last time you couldn’t find something because it doesn’t have a place or it was amongst some mess? Annoying, right?! It could’ve even made you late for something important, resulting in more stress. I cause my own frustration when I can’t find documents stored on my computer because it either isn’t e-filed (I’ve always hated filing), or I forget which e-folder I put it in.

“Have a time and place for everything, and do everything in its time and place, and you will not only accomplish more, but have far more leisure than those who are always hurrying.” Tryon Edwards.

Now, what I am good at is routine. I have a morning routine and a before bed routine. Writing lists, yep, can do that too. Everything in my kitchen has a place and is in its place. I can plan all sorts of things very well. But clutter easily accumulates around me. My desk is nearly always messy. Talk about yoyo!

So what does Google have to say on this topic? – lots, there were some results with 58 or 100 tips! We’re not into overloading. I picked the 9 from “LifeHack.org”  – this list is good for me, there are only two points that need a complete overhaul (and one or two that could be improved) .

  1. Establish a morning and night ritual
  2. Create actionable goals
  3. Use a calendar
  4. Use a task list (5 or less items)
  5. Prioritise the important tasks
  6. Delegate tasks
  7. Clean up your workspace
  8. Keep everything in its place
  9. Throw out one thing that isn’t totally essential per day
